Hi there!! I thought those of you who might not have met me personally or through social media might want to know a little more about me. So here goes.
I am a "baby boomer" from the late 1940s. My son and other friends and family thought I should write a few things down that they might not have learned yet due to the changing times in which we live. I try to keep up with the new technology as much as I can with no academic computer training. I have been online since 1992. If you do a search for alt.news.net - you might find a few entries I did before Windows. Back then everything was done on DOS in black and white. This blog will, include my opinions, comments, recipes, Bible verses and other things that strike my interest.
I am not your "typical" little old lady -- if there even is such a thing. The photo of me that I use here and on Facebook was taken a few years ago before my daughter-in-law and I went out for a "Ladies Night Out" at the local VFW. It was to celebrate my 70th birthday and I wore my black leggings and silver stillettos. Once the male dancers found out about the occasion, I was invited up on stage for a lap dance -- LOL. Of course I went.
I completed by BS in Elementary Education and taught two years full time and fifteen more as a substitute when jobs in Ohio were disappearing and schools were closing. I worked at other jobs until I finally gave up and moved to Florida in 1987 in response to an advertisement for the "Great American Teach-In there. Unfortunately, they did not accept out of state certification so I spent the next twenty years at various jobs in and around the Tampa Bay area. I completed my MA in Religious Studies and Sociology and worked eight years as a social worker/ job counselor/ case manager for women on welfare.
I had an NVI (neuro-vascular incident) in my left eye in 2006. It left me completely blind in that eye and my right eye was my "bad" eye before that so I am legally blind. I do not drive. I have to use my white cane whenever I leave my home community. I mention this only so you will understand that I might "see" things from a different perspective than my readers. I get around on my adult tricycle and live alone in my own home -- so I am fending pretty well during the Co-Vid 19 shut-down. I am healthy and still teach when I can -- usually the water aerobics class in the gated community that I live in. Since my "stroke" I have also taught adult Sunday School classes and from 2011 until 2016 I also volunteered at a orphanage-school-mission in Baja, Mexico.
If you would like to know more, you can contact me by e-mail with any questions you might have.
Hope you enjoe this little blog.
